WordPress FTW

Oh. My. God.

Now I see what all the fuss is about. Earlier today I downloaded the WP package. I had a bit of time this evening so I installed it on my host. It took about ten minutes, including setting up the MySQL db.

Migrating the content over from my Blogspot/Blogger blog was not as easy as it could have been. It’s designed to be super-straightforward, but I had a little snag. Workaround involved signing up for an account at wordpress.com, setting up a blog there to do the conversion. Then I was able to just export the content to an XML file which I imported into my personal hosted WP install.

And what a difference – just in the appearance with someone else’s template. I’m stunned. I always felt my writing had to be top-notch to be credible. But now I’m going back and re-reading my posts. I don’t know what it is, but they seem so much more… legitimate now. Between the color-scheme, typefaces and layout, I never really realized what a difference all those little visual elements made.

Anyway, you’re seeing it now. This is the new setup for http://www.quantumtom.com.

God bless WordPress.
