Google China’s New Take on ‘Tiananmen Massacre’ – Google – Gawker

Google announced it will stop filtering its China search engine — or shut the site. And already, once-suppressed results are showing up on Google.cn (see screenshot; top is current, bottom from June). That’s the good news. The bad news?

Google says it hasn't actually done anything yet. A spokesperson told the Daily Telegraph's Shanghai correspondent the company has not changed its filtering since announcing its forthcoming changes. That, presumably, is why you can still see a disclaimer about censored search results in black at the bottom left of both screenshots above.

Did L A Times Miss the Mark On Judicial Bias & Richard Fine??? // Current

Wrong.

A June 7, 2009 Los Angeles Times article entitled “LAWYER TAKES A STAND FROM HIS CELL” provoked response and criticism from supporters of jailed Anti-Trust Attorney Richard I. Fine who is being held in civil contempt of court for over 100 days following his attempt to disqualify L. A. Superior Court Judge David Yaffe from hearing a case where Fine contends he was biased. Featured in the video are taking the L. A. Times to task, is Fred Sottile, John Rizzo

Jackson And His Computer Band

Smash: Jackson and His Computer Band

I have to be careful or I’m going to wear this one out.

The record Smash was released back in 2005. Did I take notice? Had I even heard of it? The answer to both those questions is a resounding “mais, non.”

Jackson and His Computer Band is the nom-de-plum of Jackson Fourgeaud. Along with Daft Punk, M83 and Prefuse 73, Fourgeaud is forging the cutting edge of nouvelle musique that’s been kind of consuming me lately.

If you watch Adult Swim and are a fan of the music behind the bumps (those short little videos between the commercials and the shows) you can thanks Jackson Fourgeaud for much of that library of unusual sounds.

This guy has really been ahead of his time. The music on this record could claim itself as source material for the 8-bit music scene, Crystal Castles (in fact, much of Ghostly’s catalog), and many others.

Of course I would see this in the midst of my corn flake dinner.

According to the study’s author, the company’s own data “clearly underlines adverse impacts on kidneys and liver, the dietary detoxifying organs, as well as different levels of damages to heart, adrenal glands, spleen and haematopoietic system.”
