Kiwi Throws Back Taliban Grenade

A New Zealand infantryman’s quick thinking saves his comrades.

Rifleman James McKie from Recce Platoon, 3rd Battalion The Rifles was under fire from three directions on a roof when the grenade hit his platoon commander and landed at his feet.

“My first thought was I hope this doesn’t hurt too much,” the New Zealander said. “That, and I’ve really only got one chance to do this.

“If it fails, either way, doing nothing, I’m going to get the same amount of hurt. So I picked it up and threw it off the roof.”

Get Multiproxy Switch to Work in Firefox 3.6

I love having the newest version of Firefox, but it always seems to stop working with some of my favorite add-ons and plug-ins. Like multiproxy switch.

One way to get “unauthorized” plugins to work is with the Add-on Compatibility Reporter 0.4.2. It’s like sudo for Firefox plugins. It’ll ask you if you’re sure you want to do this, then let you go ahead.

Ordering Whale Meat in Santa Monica

Duuuuude.

I knew it was a good fish joint, but I’m shocked to hear that Hump was serving whale. I know I’m supposed to be appalled, but I’m actually kind of impressed at the same time.

It is sport among black belt sushi eaters here to see just how daring one’s palate can be. But even among the squid-chomping, roe-eating and uni-nibbling fans, whale is almost unheard of on the plate. It also happens to be illegal.
