A study conducted by researchers at University College London shows that boredom can kill you. The researchers found that people who reported feeling a great deal of boredom were 37 per cent more likely to have died by the end of the study. Martin Shipley, who co-wrote the report said, “The findings on heart disease show there was sufficient evidence to say there is a link with boredom.”

Maybe its time to stop some of the name calling over counter-terrorism policy and start checking the facts. As the debate over Obama Administration counter-terrorism policies has heated up in the wake of the failed Christmas Day underpants airplane bombing, prominent Republicans, ranging from leading senators to a former Press Secretary for George W. Bush, have attacked the current administration for claiming that hundreds of terrorist suspects had been successfully prosecuted through the civilian court system during Bushs presidency. But it turns out that the Administrations claims do appear to be well-documented — assuming that an official budget request sent to Congress by Bushs last attorney general was truthful itself.

Conflicting U.S. jobs data and mounting concerns about debt defaults abroad that threaten global economic growth triggered a worldwide wave of stock-market volatility Friday amid fears that the improving U.S. economy could unravel.

A mixed jobs report from the Labor Department, including a revision that showed that 2009 job losses were far greater than thought, called into question the strength of the U.S. recovery.
