Pilot Lands F-15 Minus One Wing

I came across this story looking up the Prandtl-Glauert singularity. It’s about an Israeli Air Force pilot who, having lost the wing of his F-15 during an exercise, was able to hack the F-15 flight computer and successfully land it at twice the recommended landing speed.

No Wing!
No Wing!

They later called McDonnel to find out if it was possible to land the F-15 with one wing. Their response was that, according to computer simuluations, it was aerodynamically impossible to do this.
